McKayla joined the KVEC team in 2025, bringing with her an Animal Care Certificate from Durham College and a passion for animal care. Having worked in animal shelter care and even primates for a short time.
As an Animal Care Assistant, she thrives in the fast-paced nature of the clinic, loving the variety of learning experiences and the ever-changing situations that each day brings. For McKayla, the most rewarding part of her role is witnessing the constant growth within herself and her team, all while seeing their collective capabilities heal animals in need.
When she isn't supporting patients at the clinic, McKayla loves embracing the outdoors through camping and kayaking, settling down with a good book, and tending to her chickens at home.
