Shauna Canjar Dainton, RVT, is a Client Care Representative and Registered Veterinary Technician who has been part of the KVEC team since 2016, with over a decade of experience in veterinary medicine. She earned her RVT designation in 2024 after completing the Veterinary Assistant program at Durham College and a Performance Horse Handling course through the University of Guelph.
Shauna has a strong passion for canine reproduction, whelping, neonatal care, and emergency medicine, and has completed multiple certifications in canine neonatal care—an area closely connected to her own breeding program.
Outside of the clinic, Shauna is an accomplished breeder of Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retrievers, with 19 years of experience and six generations of champions. Her dogs have earned over 55 CKC and AKC titles and have competed at prestigious events such as Westminster, the Royal Canin National Championship, and national breed specialties across North America, with invitations to compete at Crufts in the UK. In addition, she owns and operates an all-breed dog and cat grooming business.
Shauna values the strong sense of family at KVEC and finds fulfillment in supporting patients and clients, especially during critical moments where compassionate care makes a lasting impact.
